Contemporary Vikings

In July 1993 the first Festival of Vikings was held. Since then, such 2-3 day events have been organized in July/August every year.
Old handicraft is presented and open-air shows are presented to depict battlepieces of the history of Wolin.
Recently, some medieval wooden walls and buildings of the ancient town have been partially reconstructed.
In 2011, the 17th Festival of Slavs and Vikings will be held on 5 - 7 August.
It is one of the largest early-medieval events in Europe, participated by about 1500 people from more than 20 countries.
During old-handicraft workshops, there are concerts of old-music bands, races and cruises of boats being reconstructions of the old ones, staging of historic events and rituals and grand battles fought by 400 warriors.
