Pobierowo

« Back

Pobierowo is a lovely place located by the Baltic Sea coast, the West-Pomeranian Voivodship. A special feature that distinguishes Pobierowo from other seaside places is the surrounding of a pine forest, which creates a wonderful microclimate.
Many people consider Pobierowo to be the most charming place in West Pomerania. The wide and beautiful beach, the crystal clear sea and the surrounding trees create a unique atmosphere.
On the beach, the guests can have fun with  "the Sun Academy", scooter and banana rides and a water slide.
Lots of musical and cultural events are organized in Pobierowo to make the stay even more pleasant for our tourists. You can find here many cafes, restaurants, bars, discos and, of course, what cannot be missed by our seaside – just-caught fried fish, delicious ice cream, waffles and everything we dream about for the whole year.
Those, who love sports, can make use of the new football stadium with tennis courts, volleyball and basketball playgrounds. There is also a skatepark for the youth near there.

History of Pobierowa

Pobierowo is an old feud. It remained in the hands of the Kleist family until the death of its last male descendant, a page in the Berlin court, Ludwik Leopold Georg von Kleist. It was on 23 January 1772.
Since then, Pobierowo went from hands to hands, coming back to the Kleist family’s hands once a while until, in 1789, it was bought by a man named Rickmann, the former lessee, for 22 thousand thalers. On 1 January 1896, Pobierowo was sold to Robert Krause. It remained in his hands until the end of the World War II.
The beginning of tourism in Pobierowo reaches 1907, when the family of a farmer called Frohreich opened the hotel "Seeblick". The building still stands on the corner of Mickiewicza Street and Grunwaldzka Street. After an extensive renovation, it serves as a resort for the University of Szczecin staff.
More houses were built around the "Seeblick" hotel, including a butcher’s house and a bakery.
The settlement developed quickly thanks to advertisements and a regular bus connection with Berlin. The car departed each Saturday at noon and returned to Berlin on Sunday night. A return ticket cost 12,75 pre-war Deutschmark.
